With no more than 3 feet at the withers, the black bear is the smallest of North American bears.
Living in the forests between the two oceanic coasts (Atalntic and Pacific), its territory extends from the northern limit of the forest (doorstep of the arctic) to the wooded mountains in the north of Mexico.
